Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I'm from the United States, do I have to apply for an e-Visa if I want to travel to Uganda?

Yes, you have to apply for an e-Visa. In other words, you do need a visa to travel to Uganda, but this can be an electronic one, so you can avoid going to an Embassy.

What is a Uganda e-Visa?

This is a type of visa that works online with an electronic system that's linked to your passport.

How long can I stay in Uganda with the e-Visa?

If you're from the US, you can stay in India for 45 days in Total.

What are the requirements?

In order to apply online, you need to meet some requirements. However, iVisa asks a minimal effort on your behalf, and you should get all of them with ease. Here is what you will need:

  • Valid passport – Getting a passport should be something easy, but if you already have one, take a quick look at its expiration date. The document needs to be valid for at least another 6 months from your date of arrival in Uganda.

  • Copy of your passport’s information page.

  • Passport-sized photo – The picture needs to be as recent as possible, the background must be white, and you shouldn't make face gestures in it.

  • Vaccination certificate for Yellow fever – To avoid being subjected to vaccination in Uganda, you need this certificate.

In case you apply for a Transit e-Visa, you must also have a letter that states your reason for transit, as well as your country of destination. If the East Africa Visa is what you need, you are required to have a return flight ticket and an itinerary, along with the things mentioned above.

What are the prices and processing times for the Uganda e-Visa?

The total price will depend on the type of e-Visa and also how soon you want it. Keep in mind that both those factors influence your bill, that's why iVisa allows you to choose one of the following three options:

  • Standard processing time – your application is processed within 7 days, and the visa cost is USD $121.49.

  • Rush processing time – you will receive your visa within 5 days, and you must pay USD $166.49.

  • Super Rush processing time – the waiting period is just 3 days, but you will be charged USD $230.49.

As for the visa type, you can choose between a Uganda Tourist Visa, a Transit Visa, and an East Africa visa. The first two have the same fees, but the last one costs USD $161.99, USD $199.99, and USD $253.99 respectively.

How long is the Uganda e-Visa valid for?

Your Uganda e-Visa is valid for 90 days after issued, so you can travel in any of these days.

How can I apply and get my Uganda e-Visa?

iVisa takes pride in its comprehensible and easy application form. It should take you about 15 minutes to complete it, and if you need help, iVisa has an excellent support service that is available on chat and phone 24/7.

The application form is made of two simple steps:

  1. The first one will ask you to insert your personal information, as well as some info on your trip. You must also select a processing time and a visa type before you move forward.

  2. The second step will ask you to take a quick look at what you provided during step one because you need to make sure that all the information is 100 % right. As for the payment, you can use a credit/debit card or a Paypal account. After you are done, you hit submit and then wait.

As you can see, filing an iVisa online form is a lot easier than going to an embassy. The Uganda e-visa for US citizens allows you to stay in the country for up to 45 days in Total, and you have a Single Entry, except for the East Africa Visa that allows Multiple Entry.

If the e-Visa is approved, does it guarantee my total admission to Uganda?

No, it doesn't. The final admission is approved at the selected point of entry (in the case of a visa) or at the Immigration Office. This means that if you're outside Uganda, and have all the documentation required plus your e-Visa from iVisa, you should be able to enter Uganda.

Do I need to present a print out of my Uganda e-Visa?

It's not a must since this e-Visa is electronically linked to your passport. However, we strongly recommend that you have a printed version just to avoid any inconvenience.
