At the moment, 21 nationalities are eligible for a Thai visa on arrival, which means that the trip to the embassy is out of the question. At the same time, you can apply online so that you do not have to stand in line once you reach a Thai immigration point.

However, don't forget that this is a two-step process, so you have to complete the second step in the airport. We will show you everything related to this service in this article.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can I know if I qualify for a Thai visa?

In order to check whether you qualify for a Thai visa on arrival, you can use iVisa, a service provider that will do most of the work for you. In iVisa, we have a handy tool called Visa Checker where all you have to do is insert your nationality and choose Thailand as your destination. If you are eligible, you will be redirected to an application page where you can apply on the spot. If not, we provide information on the nearest Thai embassy.

In case you are eligible, you will be able to complete a two-step application process in 10 minutes or less. iVisa requires very little from you so that your efforts are close to none. You will need to provide a few documents and some information like identification, passport, e-mail address, and means of payment. Then you will be asked to make the payment before you submit your application.

What are the requirements for the Thai Visa on Arrival?

If you apply for a Thailand VOA, you'll be asked to have the following:

  • Applicant's Photo
  • Passport page
  • Airline confirmation
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Proof of Residence
  • Bank statement (if applicable)
  • All passport pages (if applicable)
  • Supporting Document (if applicable)
  • Host's ID (if applicable)
  • Employment Proof (if applicable)
  • Work ID of host (if applicable)

However, don't forget that this will depend on your nationality since some countries will require some extra documents. You can check more about the requirements here.

What is the price I have to pay for my Thai VOA?

There are two factors to consider when paying for your Thai Visa On Arrival: the processing time and your nationality.

Consider that the cost of the visa is USD $40.00, it means that's completely free, but it can be difficult to receive it through en Embassy or the checkpoints in Thailand since many people decide to get it this way and can wait for long hours and more in a line. That's why iVisa offers you the opportunity to get it as soon as possible with three options:

  • Standard processing– this is the most common option because it is the least expensive. It has a price of USD $113.99, and your application is processed in 22 days, so basically is just one day. This is an excellent option to do it the night before traveling, so you don't have to worry the next day.

  • Rush processing– with this option, your application is processed within 20 days, and you'll pay USD $177.99.

  • Super Rush processing – this option is fantastic for people who want to get the VOA on their way to the airport with no lines ahead. It takes 18 days for the visa on arrival to arrive in your email inbox, but you have to pay USD $252.99 for the speed.

As you can see, the faster you need your visa, the more you have to pay. Even so, spending a few extra dollars is worth it comparing to standing in line maybe for hours once you get in Thailand. iVisa will send you a Thai visa on arrival application form that you fill in and take with you when you leave. As a result, when you get to Thailand, you only need to pay the fee and get your stamp.

What do I have to pay once I arrive in Thailand?

iVisa does not have any additional charges. However, keep in mind that the payment you make to iVisa does not include the cost of the visa itself. For the moment, the visa cost is free, but it'll be only for travelers arriving before April 30th, 2020. After that date, the fee is paid at the immigration checkpoint in Thailand only in Thai currency and it costs 2000 THB, which is roughly around $65, depending on the exchanging rate.

How much time do I need to apply?

You only need some 10 minutes to apply, or even less.
