Important note: We currently aren't offering the Sri Lanka ETA for Ugandan citizens, but we encourage you to stay alert to our website because this eVisa will be available soon

There are 21 countries whose citizens need a consular visa to enter Sri Lanka, and one of these countries is Uganda. The good news is that this is a measure that won't last forever since Ugandan citizens could be eligible to apply for a Sri Lankan ETA very soon. You'll find out more information about this upcoming ETA in the article below.

Sri Lanka

Frequently Asked Questions / FAQs

Do Ugandan Passport Holders Need a Visa to Enter Sri Lanka?

Yes, all Ugandan passport holders require a visa to visit Sri Lanka. If you're Ugandan, you can only get a Sri Lankan consular visa by now, but you'll be able to apply for an ETA soon.

What is the Sri Lanka ETA?

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is an official document that allows you to enter Sri Lanka with an electronic system in your passport.

What documents do I need to apply?

To apply for an ETA you have to provide some requirements first so that iVisa can sort out the bureaucracy part. The list is short, and you should have no trouble with getting everything on it. Here is what you need to come up with:

  • Passport with at least 6 months of validity. You also have to scan the information page.

  • Digital passport photo.

  • Credit/debit card or PayPal account for payment.

What are the prices and processing times for the Sri Lankan e-Visa?

This is probably one of the many concerns about eVisas. That's why iVisa provides you three options according to your needs:

  • Standard processing – With this option, you'll get your eVisa in 3 days and you'll have to pay USD $100.99.

  • Rush processing – You'll obtain your eVisa in 24 hours by paying USD $152.99.

  • Super Rush processing – This is the fastest option you can select. That's why you can obtain your visa in only 12 hours and it has a price of USD $225.99.

How can I apply?

The online application form is divided into two simple steps:

  1. The first one will ask you to fill in your personal information in the first form. You must choose the type of ETA and the processing time as well.

  2. In the second step you have to make the payment and revise the information you gave in the first step. You can pay iVisa's fees with a credit/debit card or PayPal. As for the review, remember that the information you offer must be 100% accurate. If there's a mistake in your online form, you won't be able to fix it once it's sent, and you'll have to repeat the process. We recommend you to double-check everything before clicking the submit button.

What happens after I have applied for this eVisa?

Once your application is ready, you will receive the e-Visa via email, so you don't need to deal with the embassy. After that, you can present a printed version of your Sri Lankan e-Visa along with your passport once you arrive, but it's not a must since your ETA is electronically linked to your passport.

Do I also need to get a Tourist e-Visa for my children?

Only if your children are less than 12 years old. Kids under 12 years old are exempt from paying the Sri Lankan ETA.

What can I do if I make a mistake in my application form?

In case you make a mistake while entering your data online, then please contact our customer service center as soon as possible to receive fast attention.
