Sri Lanka

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I need a Visa to travel to Sri Lanka if I'm Sudanese?

Yes, Sudanese citizens need a visa to enter Sri Lanka. Remember that you can only apply for a consular visa by now, but you'll be able to get a Sri Lankan ETA shortly.

What is a Sri Lanka ETA?

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is a document that authorizes you to enter the country through an electronic system linked to your passport. There are two types of Sri Lankan ETAs: The Tourist ETA and the Business ETA.

How long can I stay in Sri Lanka with an ETA?

Sudanese Citizens who get a Sri Lankan ETA can stay in the country for 30 days in Total.

What documents do I need to apply?

You can get your ETA worry-free by providing some basic requirements. These are:

  • A passport valid for at least six months since you arrive in Sri Lanka.

  • A Digital passport photo.

  • A Credit/debit card or PayPal account to pay iVisa's fees.

  • Return ticket – This item applies only for the citizens of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syria.

  • Valid e-mail address – To get your ETA in PDF format (we always recommend to have a digital or physical copy of the ETA).

How long is the Sri Lankan ETA valid for?

Your Sri Lankan ETA expires 30 days after arrival.

What are the processing times and prices?

The price of your ETA changes according to the processing time you choose. In other words, the sooner you need your ETA, the more you'll have to pay. These are your alternatives:

  • Standard processing – You'll have to wait 3 days for your ETA and you'll have to pay USD $127.99.

  • Rush processing – Your ETA will be ready in only 24 hours and you'll have to pay USD $171.99.

  • Super Rush processing – You'll have to pay USD $234.99, but you'll get your ETA in only 12 hours. This is the fastest processing time you can choose.

How can I apply?

In iVisa we know how stressful can online forms be. That's why we created a 2-step process that's manageable and effortless:

  1. The first step asks you to offer your basic information (including passport id and address). You must choose the type of ETA and the processing time as well.

  2. The second step will require you to pay for the service and it'll also ask you to check the information you gave in step one. As for the review, all the information you provide must be valid. Keep in mind that if there's a single error in your online form after it's sent, you won't be able to fix it and you'll have to repeat the process.

Do I need to get separate Tourist ETAs for my children?

If you're traveling with children that areunder 12 years old, then they won't have to get an ETA. In other words, they can enter Sri Lanka with their basic travel documentation.

Do I need a visa if I'm in the transit area in Sri Lanka?

Unfortunately, we cannot inform you if you need a visa for this case. We strongly recommend you to contact the nearest embassy to receive proper information.

How do I know if my Sri Lanka ETA is approved?

iVisa will e-mail you the confirmation as soon as the Sri Lanka Government confirms your ETA.
